JACKSONVILLE, FL –– On Saturday, the Sailfish met Georgia Southern University, a SELC-II South Region opponent for their first conference game of the season. Palm Beach Atlantic went with a decidedly different starting lineup against GSU, but it did not matter––the 'Fish persevered into the final quarter and left with a 9-7 victory.

PBA was without brothers Andrew Lockhart (junior attackman) and Brad Lockhart (sophomore defenseman), both starters and both out due to a family emergency. In addition, PBA missed midfielders Chris Bode (fr.) and Mark Sinclair (so.) due to illness. The absence of Andrew Lockhart saw starting midfielder Jordan Jones (North Myrtle Beach, SC/The Academy of the Arts) move to attack.

Starting the scoring was senior midfielder Dan Dodge (Oviedo, FL/Oviedo) who netted the game's first two goals in putting the Sailfish up 2-0. GSU freshman Benjamin Carroll scored with under one minute remaining in the first to cut the lead in half.

Dan Dodge would reassert himself, dodging and finding Lance Villio (Charlottesville, VA/The Covenant School) for PBA's third goal and his third point of the game. At 8:50 (2nd), Villio scored unassisted to give Palm Beach Atlantic a 4-1 lead. Georgia Southern's Carroll would score again, as would two other Eagles as GSU tied the score at half.

Junior Thomas Lubatti gave Georgia Southern a 5-4 lead before Villio answered again for PBA. Entering the fourth tied 5-5, the Sailfish would outscore Georgia Southern 4-1 in the major part of the quarter to escape with a 9-7 win.

Villio again led the troops with four points/one assist, while Dan Dodge added two goals and one assist.

Palm Beach Atlantic improves to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play. PBA will host #21 Coastal Carolina University in their home opener, February 27th, 7pm.
