ATLANTA, Ga. ––

Gentlemen of the SELC:

Today I was notified by Eckerd College lacrosse of its' intention to withdraw from the SELC effective immediately. All games currently scheduled involving Eckerd are officially cancelled.

Eckerd lacrosse cited lack of participation and ability to be competitive in the SELC as primary reasons for this necessity. They expressed regret and apologies for inconveniencing the Conference and any teams on their schedule. They also stressed that the College is supportive of the lacrosse team and hope that they are able to apply for readmission to the SELC in the future.

The XC will review Eckerd's current financial position with the Conference and advise the program of any outstanding obligations due to the Conference. The XC will also review the impact of Eckerd's withdrawal on the teams in the Southern Region of DII as well as all teams in SELC DII in terms of qualification for postseason play.

Sincerely,

Buff Grubb
President
SELC

The Fallout: Palm Beach Atlantic's meeting with the Tritons (at Eckerd) on February 20, 2010 (4:00pm) is officially cancelled. The Sailfish may look to host EC in future seasons. PBA has scheduled Florida International University at home on Sunday, February 21, 2010 (3:00pm) as a replacement game.
