Action in last season's Eckerd game
This year's Palm Beach Atlantic men's lacrosse team

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –– In a race to compensate for the cancellation of 2/20's game against Eckerd College, PBA has found a viable alternative.

Instead of a game on Saturday, February 20 (4:00pm) against Eckerd College (who withdrew from the Southeastern Lacrosse Conference on Tuesday), Palm Beach Atlantic will host Florida International University. This game is currently scheduled for Sunday, February 21 at 3:00pm.

"This is a win-win situation for us," said captain Jayson Schmidt. "We replace a trip to St. Petersburg with a home game against a newer but quality opponent in our area. We love helping new programs in the area grow."

Although the Sailfish have never met the Panthers in a regular season game (2010 is FIU's inaugural season), both teams did meet this fall in the 2009 South Florida Lacrosse Invitational, hosted by PBA. In that match (25 minute running halves), the 'Fish were victorious by a 5-4 count.

Sunday's game will be played at PBA lacrosse's home field, Cardinal Newman High School.

Quick Hits: This is the first time Palm Beach Atlantic and Florida International have met in a regular season game ... As of February 13th, senior Andrew Lockhart (Winter Park, FL/Winter Park) leads all Sailfish in scoring with 10 points. Freshman Trey Darby (Wilmington, NC/Palm Beach Gardens-FL) leads PBA in goal scoring with seven goals.
